What is it about Kate Spade designs and color schemes that makes us so happy with the fun combination of bold patterns, color and texture? I was beyond excited when I first heard about the theme for our styled wedding shoot for The DC Ladies wedding week. Kate Spade represents urban sophistication and a combination of bold graphics, color, patterns, and fashion style.
As a wedding theme, it is perfect for DC weddings. It combines the clean lines of tradition with the youthful energy of the urban city that translates into accents to make it sophisticated, yet very fun. For floral design, this inspiration is perfect to explore new ideas and color combinations. You can add chevron and stripes, gold accents and color, and play around with flower color combinations to bring the theme to life.
For a Kate Spade inspiration, you can add spicy colors and details, we love her bows and accents. She deliciously includes color palettes that never go out of style, and you can see this in the shoot at Carnegie Library, a combination of white and black accented by rich fall colors in a variety of oranges, fuchsia, and reds.
To recreate her city lines and urban styles in your floral designs, add anemones and ranunculus, and pair them along with some softer blooms such as roses and hydrangeas. Include a touch of Larkspur and Delphinium along with greenery that bring height to your arrangements, and are perfect for contemporary altar pieces.
For the bouquet, go bold and make a statement. What better way to do this than with a brooch bouquet in a combination of silver and gold brooches, a very chic detail that is a perfect fashion statement piece to celebrate your wedding day. Add a touch of rhinestone decor to your bridesmaids bouquets to match your own, and incorporate details from the wedding decor and colors, ribbons in stripes or chevron are the perfect accent.
Tablescapes in this fun monochromatic and graphic pattern combination, are accented by pieces in a variety of gold finishes. Vases in metallics give your tablescape a fabulous finish, and mercury glass creates a striking table display, with statement floral center in matching Autumn colors to add elegance and a very modern touch. For a contemporary look, mix and match vase sizes and arrangements on tables. The different heights and dimensions offer great movement to your tablescapes. And for this fall table, don’t forget to add traditional seasonal fall flowers. This will not only bring a touch of the season but also help you keep the prices of table top flowers affordable.
