How many times have you heard friends mention something about their book club and you thought gosh darn it, I wish I could find a book club, and make the time for myself to actually pick up a book, read it and share my thoughts? Here it is; The DC Ladies virtual Book of the Month Club. And the best thing is you can do it at home with a nice warm cup of cocoa or glass of wine in your jammies and share!
We understand our DC Ladies are made up of students, professionals, moms; we’re working, reading books, watching movies, traveling, studying, shopping, and cooking. We are hoping that The DC Ladies Book Club is not only a way of expanding what we are doing online with our “Book Bag” Column but also hoping that it will give our ladies a chance to sit and enjoy a book and meet new friends.
WANT IN? HERE’S HOW IT WORKS
The Club: Each month, ladies from inside the beltway and all the way around and beyond are invited to participate in our online book club. Each month the DC Ladies Book of the Month Club will pick a book to read. Some will be classics; others will be from a Best Seller list and others will be from local authors. We will take a month to read the book.
One of our “hostesses” will create an intro blog post about the book sharing some thoughts, reactions, and discussion questions. Each Monday for the month new questions will go up on the weekly post. This is where you come in. We would love the readers to comment on the post and share their answers to the discussion questions. This can serve not only as a discussion, but also a recommendation for women in DC looking for a new book to read.
How to Get Involved
- Read the Monthly choice
- Leave a few comments on the blog post which starts a discussion about the book each Monday
- Once a month we will host a Book Club Twitter Chat, be sure to follow #TDCLBookClub, and @TheDCLadies on Twitter.
- Share this with your friends.
Twitter Chat Discussions
All of the Book Club Twitter Chats will be held during the week in the evening. The time for the Book Club meetings always happen at the same time: 8-9pm EST don’t forget to use the hashtag, #TDCLBookClub. It makes finding us super easy. Each interactive evening we will have 8-10 questions to discuss the book, and we hope to have a prize or two. How fun is that?
Help Spread the Word
If you blog add this adorable badge to your blogs sidebar to show your participation in the Book Club and help spread the word.
We hope that you will join our DC Ladies book club. This is a great way to get some great conversation started about books, but also to meet some new people from the comfort of your own computer.
